Acuity Counseling Therapist Bio
Zach Dungca, MA, LMFT, MHIMCP
Individual, Couples and Child Therapist
Zach finds joy in providing a therapeutic space for individuals, and families. You are the expert on your life, and Zach continuously seeks to honor this truth by fostering sessions full of unconditional compassion, regard, and understanding.
Working with Individuals
It is common to find ourselves in phases of change or transition that challenge our belief in ourselves and others. Everything you’ve tried doesn’t seem to work. No one understands. And, you’ve spent so much time and energy concealing your story or wishing you can undo certain things. Indeed, it is in these moments that we might feel stuck, exhausted, isolated, and vulnerable. Maybe you feel anxious about seeking professional help. You deserve to be seen, understood, and heard. Zach’s goal is to provide you with the safety of a therapeutic environment to tell your story, be heard, and felt understood.
Working with Families
Families grow and change. Every family is unique and different in their own way. As such, it is common that family members often find themselves at opposing sides of an issue, or in some cases, at odds over a family secret or event. Family therapy is an appropriate setting to explore contributions to stress that the family may be experiencing due to such conflicts. Zach can guide the processes of learning effective communication, identifying dysfunctional behavioral patterns, and seeking understanding for your family.
Working with Children and Teens
Let’s face it, being a young person today can be arduous and often full of double standards. There is tremendous pressure that is placed on youth, which can include stressors in the academic setting, parent-child relationship, and peer inter-relationships. Having an outlet to explore their individuality, and uniqueness, can empower them to not only grow and heal emotionally, but also, improve their emotional literacy.
How I Can Help
Zach holds that the most important duty of a therapist, is to actively listen, communicate understanding, and provide tools for navigating life’s emotional challenges. He can ensure this role is met by providing you with a genuine humanistic approach to therapy, amalgamated with a blend of evidence-based practices to aid in shepherding the process of therapy.
